I was energised for days after meeting Davina. There is
something about people who have found their deepest inner calling
- their energy is pure and they come across unstoppable. Hers is
by no means a road well-travelled, but it definitely comes across
as the road she’s meant to be on.
How would you describe yourself? Who is Davina?
I’m an energetic extrovert with a great passion for life. My
mission is creating space for miracles to happen.
What are you working on now?
A number of things. I see myself as a facilitator helping people
to transform their lives and allow magic and miracles in on an
every day basis. I work with people through their homes.
Your house is the most intimate expression of who you are.
People unconsciously place their art and personal items to
represent what’s going on inside them. The layout of each room,
the position of the furniture, the flow of foot traffic, where you
spend most time, the storage of items, the total design of the
living space all speak volumes about the people who occupy that
space, and how they feel about themselves and each other.
I also look at the health of peoples’s homes with regard to
electromagnetic pollution, geopathic stress, chemicals, etc. I
advise clients on external changes that they can make, which will
have a corresponding internal change in their lives. It is often
easier to create change working from the outside in than the
inside out, as we can use the metaphors we uncover in our homes to
create more obvious ”aha” moments and get a clearer understanding
of ourselves and our blocks.
As an example one client was desperate for a relationship
having been single for longer than she cared for. In her
relationship corner was a postcard of the Pope, a statue of Jesus
and another of the Buddha. Whilst admiring her effortless
juxtaposition of religious beliefs I did suggest that they may not
be the most appropriate symbols for attracting a reltionship, as
I’m not sure their sex lives would have been something to shout
about! This immediate insight transformed that women’s view of
herself and her relationships in a way that otherwise may have
remained blocked indefinitely.
What has been your journey to what you are doing now?
I realize in hindsight that this was always the direction my life
was heading. However, I managed to successfully avoid following my
heart for years, predominantly because I grew up in a culture that
encouraged the obvious, ie. take A-levels, go to university,
become a lawyer, etc.
As a result, I feel I have already lived many lifetimes in this
one and my eclectic career history includes qualifying as a nurse
and a counselor, a stint in PR/media, Director of a commercial
radio station, years in various telecoms roles and finally owner
and CEO of a 60-seat call centre.
The crucial transition came when our backers ran into financial
difficulties and to cut a long story short I lost my company and
became CEO of their much larger holding company. The new position
was a political hotbed and basically untenable to the point where
it sort of imploded after three months and I suddenly found myself
unemployed and uprooted.
I have always led a parallel life in that my interests outside
work have always been towards areas such as geomancy, shamanism,
astrology, quantum physics and the like.
In fact by the time I left the corporate world I was already
well qualified in what I was about to do as I had spent my spare
time training for it. Initially I believed it was my role to
change the face of corporations from the inside and I employed
many of the things I learnt about space clearing, feng shui and
earth energies at work.
However, this last experience was a real turning point and I
made the decision not to go back into the corporate arena and to
finally be brave enough to believe I could survive doing what I
loved!
How have you dealt with doubts along the way?
When I left, I felt like I was in no man’s land. I had been
earning a lot of money, and now I was supporting myself through
journalism and bits & bobs. I had real fears of survival.
I also used the savings from the sale of my home on further
training in neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) and shamanism so I
took my resources right to the edge. Somehow, I knew this was the
only way I would work through the issues as money, or rather the
lack of it, became an issue for the first time ever in my working
life!
I did a lot of work on remaining trusting and having faith,
which meant a lot of work on me. I developed daily disciplines
such as meditation and yoga, and these kept me going through the
hard times.
I also de-cluttered and cleared drawers to create space for new
things to appear in my life. I learnt various methods for positive
visualization and created treasure maps of my future. I kept my
faith that something would come up and of course eventually it
did.
I may not be so financially successful these days but the joy I
feel daily when someone’s life transforms through my facilitation
more than makes up for the odd designer suit or posh gym
membership I choose not to purchase.
How are you feeling now?
Fantastic, my future looks phenomenal, better than ever. I can see
an overfilled golden pot at the end of the rainbow – and I
absolutely know it’s within reach.
Would you do anything differently?
Loads of things. I would’ve had a plan and not just walked away. I
would have engineered myself out and been paid to leave. This
could’ve stopped me from drifting and being unmotivated.
On the other hand, I needed to get out and I believe everything
happens for a reason so I certainly don’t beat myself up with past
regrets and I’m certainly a far more resilient and flexible person
as a result of my own journey.
